Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Educator works directly with and takes responsibility for the children allocated to him/her to implement the approved programs of education and care.

  • Plans, implements and evaluates developmentally-appropriate activities and experiences in accordance with the     corporation's philosophy
  • Individualizes the curriculum
  • Ensures guidance of children’s behavior that encourages positive self-concept
  • Ensures the child’s environment is healthy and safe
  • Ensures positive communication with parents
  • Contributes to the ongoing operation of the centre

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Diploma in early childhood education or an equivalent diploma from an accredited community college
  • Be registered as a certified member of the College of Early Childhood Educators or can be Otherwise Approved by the Ministry of Education through our Daycare
  • Required to have a current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Experience working with children, families, and staff in a team environment
  • Ability to work with families, staff and children given the philosophy of the Corporation as well as their unique needs
  • Ability to empathize with the children and interact with them in an educational, friendly and authoritative but gentle manner
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and written reports for presentation
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and multi task as required
  • Ability to follow procedures and protocols as per established policies
  • Basic computer skills
